a) celebrations and joyful occasions;
b) blood / war;
c) revolution or communism (usu. Derogatory in western culture, as in Red [ie Communist] China 红色/赤色中国; but commendatory in Chinese culture, as in 红军(Red Army),又红又专[become both red and expert]).
Besides, in English, “red” is often associated with “anger.”
