【解析】
      1.describe的用法

      1)是及物动词，其后可以下形式的宾语：
      ①疑问词引导的从句：
      Words cannot describe her beauty.
      言语无法形容她的美丽。
      ②名词：
      Please describe what you saw.
      请说说你所见到的情况。


2)通常不能接双宾语，若语义需要，要用介词 to / for 来引出间接宾语：
      你能将你所见到的情况描述给我听听吗?
      正：Can you describe what you saw to [for] me?
      正：Can you describe to [for] me what you saw?
      误：Can you describe me what you saw?


3)“把…形容为 (说成是)…”，英语用describe…as…，在此结构中as之后可接名词、形容词或动名词等：
      He described himself as a doctor.
      他自称是医生。


2. spiritual


1)adj.精神的；心灵的；与上帝有关的
      n.(尤指美国南部黑人的)圣歌
      Many young people could not resist the spiritual pollution.
      很多年轻人不能抵制精神污染。


2)mental和 spiritual简单辨析
      mental: 侧重指某人对周围环境所具有的内心，情绪上及智力方面的反映。
      spiritual: 侧重人内心深处的思维对客观事物的反映，而不是人的身体对事物的反应而构成人的精神因素。


3. barrenness
      n. 不孕;不结子;无聊
      Extreme dearth;barrenness or insufficiency.
      缺乏极度缺乏;贫瘠或不足

4.bring,take,fetch,carry的辨析



1)bring意为“带来；拿来”，表示从别的地方将某人或某物带到或拿到说话者所在的地点来(由远而近)。
      Please ask Uncle Tom to bring you here in August.

2)take与bring的意思相对，意为“带去；拿去”，指从说话者所在地把某人或某物带走或拿走(由近而远)。
      Remember to take your books when you leave.


3)fetch意为“去拿来；去请来”(由近而远，再由远而近，指往返动作)。
      Can you fetch some more water for me?


4)carry 指“随身携带”(如搬，提，拿，扛，抬，抱，背，带等)，不具体说明来去的方向，有时含有沉重或麻烦之意。
      The wounded men were carried away.
      伤员被抬走了。
