一、用作及物动词，表示“帮助、援助”。

1. 接名词或代词作宾语。如：

They started a plan for helping blind children.他们开始一项帮助盲童的计划。

I can’t lift this box — will you help me, please?我举不动这个箱子，请你帮我一下好吗？

2. 接动词不定式作宾语，即用于help (to) do sth.结构，其中to可有可无，意为“有助

于做某事”，与help with sth.同义，但结构不同。试比较：

    During busy seasons they help (to) do field work.= During busy seasons they help with field work.在农忙季节他们就帮着干农活。

3. 接动词不定式作复合宾语，即用于help sb. (to) do sth.结构，其中to可有可无。意为“帮助某人做某事”。如：

Can you help me (to) learn English ?你能帮助我学英语吗？

I can’t help you (to) lift this stone.我不能帮你搬这块石头。

友情提示：在被动语态中，不定式要带to。如：

You will be helped by them to go over your lessons.你将得到他们的帮助来温习功课。

4. 接with短语作复合宾语，即用于help sb with sth结构，意为“帮助某人做某事”，与

help sb. (to) do sth.同义，但结构不同。试比较：

I can help you with your homerwork. = I can help you (to) do your homerwork.我可以帮助

你做作业。

二、用作不及物动词，表示“有帮助、起作用”。

此时不接宾语。如：

Can I help? 要我帮忙吗？

Every little helps.集腋成裘（再少也有作用）。

三、用作名词。

1. 表示“帮助者、助手、有帮助的事”，此时用作可数名词。如：

You're a good help to me.你是我的得力帮手。

Now the boy is quite a help to his mother.现在这男孩已很能给他妈妈帮点忙了。

2. 表示“帮助、受雇的人”，即表达笼统的意思时，多用作不可数名词。如：

Thank you for your kind help.谢谢你好意相助。

Help wanted.招聘员工。

四、用于习惯搭配。

　　

1. be of some/ no/ much help to sb. 表示“对某人有些 / 没有 / 很有帮助。”如：

　　This book is of great help to me.这本书对我很有帮助。

　　Is this magazine of any help to you ?这本杂志对你有些帮助吗？

　　

2. help oneself （to）表示“自用（食物）、擅自取用”等。如：

　　Help yourself to the fish. 请随便吃鱼。

　　The thief helped himself to our family silver.小偷窃取了我家的银子

　　

3. help sb. into/ out of 表示“搀扶某人进入/ 走出”。 如：

　　He helped the patient out of the hospital.他搀扶病人走出了医院。

　　Can you help the patient into the hospital ?你能搀扶病人进医院吗？

　　

4. help sb. out 表示“帮助某人克服困难、渡过难关、解决问题”等。如：

　　When I’m in trouble, he always helps me out with money.每当我处境困难时，他总是用金钱帮助我渡过难关。

　　Please help me out with this problem.请帮我解这道试题。

5. with the help of 表示“在……帮助下”。如：

　　With the help of her, he found his lost child.在她的帮助下，他找到了失踪的小孩。

6. can’t/ couldn’t help doing sth 表示“情不自禁或禁不住做某事”。如：

I couldn’t help crying.我忍不住哭了。

Between astonishment and joy, she couldn’t help bursting into tears.她惊喜交集，禁不住放声大哭起来。

友情提示：can’t help (to) do sth. 表示“不能帮忙做某事”。如：

I can’t help (to) go shopping at the moment.我现在不能帮助去购物。

7. Can I help you?/ May I help you?/ What can I do for you?口语用法。

该交际用语广泛用于商店、饭店、旅馆、邮局、办事处等服务性场合，作为对顾客的招呼语。
